Red Lantern House Hostel sits right in the Beijing hutong (centuries old tiny alleys) so you are steps away and yet separated from the outside noisy modern life. They are also one of the few YH to arrange qualitied tours to the Great Wall.
Royal banquet anyone?
Legend has it that Manchu-Han royal banquet consists of 108 dishes and the whole banquet lasts 3 days. What is interesting about these dishes is that it is not only royal but full of local characteristics. Fanshan’s version is although water-downed but with the lineage passed down from formal royal kitchen, is the closest you can get to have a taste of the famous royal treat.
Unique Shopping
Torana Gallery carries some unique items you will find nowhere else, including rare Tibetan Wangden meditation rugs, antique Chinese and Tibetan carpets, Tibetan cashmere, jewelery and artisan textiles from the Dropenling handicrafts center in Lhasa.
